Writing in English, Russian or Uzbek is fine. It helps if you say what you were doing, what happened instead, which phone you are using, and the version number at the bottom of the Settings tab.

Common questions

How do I sign in?

With your phone number. We send a six-digit code by SMS; entering it signs you in. If the account is new, you then choose a username and a name. There is no password to remember.

Can I use more than one account?

Yes. You can be signed in on up to four accounts at once and switch between them with one tap. Each account keeps its own chats, settings and notifications.

Why does a call fail on mobile data?

Calls are carried directly between the two devices. When the two networks cannot reach each other directly, a call needs a relay server, and relay servers (TURN) are not switched on in our deployment yet. In practice that means calls connect reliably over Wi-Fi and can fail on a mobile network. It is a known gap and we are working on it.

I am not getting notifications.

Three things are worth checking, in this order:

  • that notifications are allowed for TES Chat in your phone’s system settings;
  • that the chat is not muted (mute overrides every other setting);
  • Settings → Notifications in the app, where messages, groups and channels each have their own switches, plus per-chat exceptions.

On Android 14 and later, an incoming call can only take over your lock screen if you grant the app’s full-screen notification permission. If it has not been granted, the Notifications screen offers a link straight to that system setting; until then calls still notify, they just do not take over the screen.

How do I sign out a device I no longer have?

Settings → Privacy and Security → Active Sessions lists every device signed in to your account, with the device name, platform and app version it signed in with. You can end any single session, or end all sessions other than the one you are on. Ending a session revokes its access immediately.

How do I delete my data?

Settings → Privacy and Security → “Automatically delete my account” lets you choose a period of inactivity after which your account is deleted for you. Deleting an account is immediate and irreversible: your phone number, username, name, profile photo, presence, contacts, saved messages, sessions and push notification tokens are removed, and your number and username are released. Messages you already sent stay in your conversation partners’ chats, attributed to “Deleted Account”, because removing them would erase one half of conversations that also belong to other people. Groups you owned pass to their longest-standing member.

For anything else — a copy of your data, a correction, a question about what is stored — write to kamuranbek1998@gmail.com. The Privacy Policy lists what is collected and how long it is kept.

How do I report a user, a group or a channel?

Reporting from inside the app is not available yet. Until it is, email kamuranbek1998@gmail.com with the username, group or channel and, if you can, a screenshot. You can also block any user from their profile, which stops their messages and calls reaching you.

Which languages does the app speak?

English, Russian and Uzbek. The app follows your phone’s language and you can change it in Settings.

Does TES Chat cost anything? Are there ads?

The app is free. It ships no advertising, no trackers and no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.

Are my messages end-to-end encrypted?

No. Messages travel over encrypted connections (TLS) and are stored on our servers so they can reach your devices and the people you are talking to, which means the service can technically access their content. We say so plainly rather than implying otherwise — the Privacy Policy has the detail.
